Keto Flu IV Therapy in Boston
Headache, cramps and brain fog in your first week of keto are a fluid and electrolyte problem. IV hydration fixes both in about 45 minutes.
Medically directed and founded by Olivia Kelly, NP, NP, RN — Licensed since 2003.
Starting a ketogenic diet drains glycogen — and every gram of glycogen takes about three grams of water with it, plus the sodium, potassium and magnesium dissolved in that water. That is why days two through five bring headaches, muscle cramps, fatigue, nausea and fog, and why drinking plain water often does not fix it: you are replacing the fluid but not the minerals. IV League Hydration treats keto dehydration directly at our two South Boston clinics, or wherever you are in Greater Boston through our mobile service. A licensed RN screens you, then delivers fluids and electrolytes straight into the bloodstream, bypassing the queasy stomach that makes oral rehydration so slow during adaptation. Most guests are in and out inside an hour and report the headache easing before the bag is finished.

Benefits
Why patients choose keto flu IV therapy
Replaces what keto actually depletes
Sodium, potassium and magnesium — not just water. Low magnesium in particular drives the calf cramps and poor sleep people blame on the diet itself.
Works when your stomach doesn't
Nausea in the first keto week slows oral absorption to a crawl. An IV bypasses the gut entirely, so the fluid is available immediately.
Fast relief for the keto headache
The classic keto headache tracks closely with fluid and sodium deficit. Correcting both in one sitting is the quickest route out of it.
Targets cramps and brain fog
Magnesium and B-complex in the fuller drips address the muscle cramping and mental fog that make the adaptation week hard to push through.
Nurse-owned, medically directed
Every drip is screened and administered by a licensed RN under protocols set by our Medical Director and Founder, Olivia Kelly, NP.

FAQ
Common questions
What is the keto flu?
The keto flu is the cluster of symptoms — headache, fatigue, brain fog, muscle cramps, nausea, irritability and poor sleep — that hits in the first three to seven days of a ketogenic diet. It is not an infection. As your body burns through stored glycogen, it dumps the water bound to it along with sodium, potassium and magnesium, and that rapid fluid and electrolyte loss causes most of the symptoms.
Why does keto cause dehydration?
Every gram of stored glycogen holds roughly three grams of water. Cutting carbs empties those stores fast, and the kidneys excrete the released water along with sodium. Lower insulin levels also tell the kidneys to hold on to less sodium. The result is a large, quick loss of fluid and electrolytes that plain water alone does not replace.
Can IV therapy help with keto flu symptoms?
IV hydration delivers fluid and electrolytes straight into the bloodstream, bypassing a gut that is often nauseated and slow during the adaptation phase. Most people feel headache and fatigue ease during or shortly after the drip because the fluid deficit and low sodium and magnesium are corrected in 30 to 45 minutes rather than over a day of sipping fluids.
Which drip is best for keto flu in Boston?
The Rookie is our entry-level hydration drip and is the usual starting point for mild keto flu — fluids plus core electrolytes. If you also have headache, cramping and heavy fatigue, The Gamechanger adds a fuller vitamin and mineral blend including magnesium and B-complex, which targets the cramps and brain fog directly.
How long does keto flu last?
For most people it resolves in three to seven days as the body adapts to burning fat for fuel. Staying ahead of sodium, potassium and magnesium shortens it considerably. Symptoms that persist beyond two weeks are worth discussing with a clinician, since something other than adaptation may be involved.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome at both South Boston clinics — 36 A Street and 47 L Street — and booking online guarantees a chair. We also run mobile IV service across Greater Boston if you would rather not leave home while you feel rough.
Is a keto hydration drip safe?
Yes. A licensed RN screens you before treatment, all formulas are pharmaceutical grade and every infusion uses single-use sterile supplies, under protocols set by our Medical Director and Founder, Olivia Kelly, NP. Tell us about kidney or heart conditions at screening so we can adjust the fluid volume.
