Who Is Rush IV Therapy For? A Boston Nurse's Guide

Published August 4, 2026·IV Therapy, Boston, Hydration

Same-day IV therapy is not for everyone, and a good clinic will tell you when it is not the right call. Here is who benefits most from a rush IV in Boston, what the visit looks like, and how to recover well afterward.

Who it's for

  • Hangover recovery. Fluids, anti-nausea support and B-complex — see the hangover IV drip.
  • Cold, flu and post-viral fatigue. High-dose vitamin C, zinc and hydration.
  • Athletes and runners recovering from a long block or a race weekend.
  • Business and leisure travelers landing at Logan and working the same day.
  • Migraine and heat-related dehydration where oral fluids are not keeping up.
  • Bridal parties and group events who want a nurse on site the morning of.

Who should wait or go elsewhere

We screen for this at intake. Skip the rush IV and seek medical care if you have chest pain, shortness of breath, confusion, a persistent high fever, severe abdominal pain, or if you are managing heart failure or advanced kidney disease without clearance from your physician. Pregnancy and some medications also change what we can safely give.

What to expect

Short intake, a nurse consult and vitals, a single IV start, and a 30–45 minute infusion in a recliner. Boosters are a two-minute intramuscular shot instead. Clinic visits at L Street or A Street run 45–60 minutes; mobile adds roughly 30–60 minutes for travel.

Aftercare

Remove the wrap after 15–30 minutes, keep drinking water, eat within the hour, and go easy on that arm for a couple of hours. Most people feel the difference within 30–60 minutes; if you are chronically running dry, a membership spreads the cost of regular drips.

Not sure which drip fits? Take the drip match quiz, or book your rush IV in under 60 seconds.
